Ed Lucero Honored with 2012 Tony Gasparovich
our 2012 Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet, Coach Ed Lucero was honored with the 2012 Tony Gasparovich
While serving under the legendary head coach Dick Armstrong, and most recently with head coach Mark Perry at Snohomish High School, Ed is considered an outstanding line coach by other football coaches throughout the state. Many of his players have gone on to play college and professional football.
Coach Lucero has always been active in teaching blocking technique at clinics, especially the NFF Coaching Academy and presently with the NFL Program for USA Football. He is a lift time member of WSCA, a charter member of the Short Yardage Club and still teaches Math at Everett Community College. In addition to coaching football he also coaches basketball and wrestling and has spent more than 35 years as a track meet starter.
Ed is very active in the Washington State Football Coaches Association, where he is was recently recognized for his dedication in helping to promote the sport with the 2012 Washington State Football Coaches Association Gold Helmet Award. Ed has been coaching high school football in this state for 51 years and there are rumors floating around that he might soon turn in his whistle and retire. But his colleagues contend that the 75-year old coach still has a lot to give young inspiring linemen. Let’s hope he returns to coach next season!
