Coach Paul Lawrence played on the 1960 Everett State
Championship Football team, was a1961 graduate of Everett
High School, and a 1965 graduate of the University of Idaho
playing football for the legendary Coach Dee Andros. Paul
began his coaching and teaching career in 1965 at Marquette
High School in Yakima, Washington. Following a two year
tour of active duty in the Army, he returned to Yakima at Carroll
High School in 1968. In 1972, he came to Cascade High
School as an assistant coach for Jim Ennis and Head Track
In 1976, he moved to Everett High School as an assistant
in football to Tony Whitefield, and in 1988 he returned to
Cascade as an assistant coach for Terry Ennis. In1995. Paul
returned (for the last time) to Everett High School as the Head Football Coach. He
retired from coaching in 2004 and from teaching in 2007. He returned to coach with
Terry Ennis at Archbishop Murphy High School from 2005 to 2007.
He was Head Coach of the West Squad in 1999 and presently the Game Coordinator
for the 2012 East West All Star Football Game. He has been actively involved in the
Washington State Football Coaches Association and has been the East West 3A/4A
game Coordinator for seven games held in Everett. Everett is his “home town", and
he feels that every time we can bring the game back to Everett, we can contribute
something back to the community for all their support.
He received the National Federation of High Schools 2004 State Coach of the Year
in 2004, and in 2009 was the recipient of the Washington State Football Coaches
Association’s Gold Helmet Award.
His wife, Dawn Lawrence, passed away on November 15, 2011. She was an active
member of the coaches association, and an inspiration and supporter throughout Paul’s
teaching and coaching career.
