2008 Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony
The 43rd Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony took place on
December 14, 2008 at Qwest field. For the past 42
years, our annual banquet has been held to recognize and award
scholarships to outstanding local football players who
excel on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
Jackson Pierce and Kurt
Stottlemyer, both from Bothell High,
were honored with the top two awards, each receiving a $2000
scholarship from the Seattle NFF Chapter.
The other finalists were Marshall Davis (John F.
Kennedy), Mick Davis (Eastside Catholic), Trey
(Juanita), Carson Dunn
(Garfeld), Richie Meier (Central Kitsap) and Brennett
Rodseth (Auburn Riverside). They will each receive $500 scholarships.
Craig Smith, Seattle Times Sports Reporter, was
honored with the Tony
Gasparovich Award. This
award is presented by the Seattle-King County Chapter to football
supporters who exhibit love and dedication of the game through
their principles and leadership with those they work with.
Dick Dugdale was presented with the E.R.
"Rusty" Young Memorial Award. This award is presented
by the Seattle Chapter to an
outstanding individual and/or corporation who exhibits undying
commitment and dedication to the game through his contributions
for the benefit of the scholar-athlete.
Reporter/Producer Fox Sports
Network Northwest, served as Master
of Ceremonies for the event. The featured speaker was Kevin
Griffin, Director of Fan Development for the Seattle
Seahawks & Seattle Sounders.
