2016 Seattle NFF Scholar-Athlete Awards

The Seattle Chapter's 51st Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet was held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at CenturyLink Field. The focus of this annual event is to acknowledge the accomplishments of Seattle\King County high school football players.

This year, a total of 88 scholar-athletes were nominated by coaches from over 45 schools. The selection committee narrowed the field down to 8 finalists, from which the the top Lineman and Back were honored and awarded $2000 scholarships. The remaining six finalists were awarded $500 scholarships.

The 2016 Lineman of the Year was Jordan McGwire Burtt, King's High School. Additional Linemen finalists were Anthony Renaldo Flor (O’Dea High School), Caleb Peter Johnston (Skyline High School), and William Robert Moore IV (Bellevue High School).

The 2016 Back of the Year was Jack Chandler McCarthy, Skyline High School. Additional Back finalists were Justin Reid Angelel (Bellevue High School), Daniel Aaron Ficca (Bellevue Christian High), and Jack Francis Weidenbach (Mount Si High School).

Receiving the Rusty Young Memorial Award was Deby Kohlwes, Landscape Designer and Marketing Consultant. This is awarded to the individual or corporation that exhibits a dedication to the game and its athletes through their contributions for the benefit of the scholar-athlete.

Randy Hart, Retired Collegiate Coach, was given the Tony Gasparovich Memorial Award. Each year this award is given to an area football supporter who exhibits love and dedication of the game through their principles and leadership with those with whom they work. Randy was honored for his 45 years of coaching, including guiding Stanford to three rose bowls until his retirement after the 2015 season.

This year's guest speakers included Paul Johns, Director, Youth Football and Legends Programs, Seattle Seahawks,and Chip Lydum, Associate Director of Athletics, Capital Projects & Operations, University of Washington. Master of Ceremonies was Mike Brown, Radio Sportscaster, Emcee, Auctioneer and Fundraiser.

The Seattle Chapter's 49th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet was held on Sunday, February 8, 2015. Lineman Ben Josie (Kennedy Catholic) and Back Davidson Emanuels (Mercer Island) were honored with the top scholarships of $2,000 each. Read Story.

The Seattle Chapter 2007 Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony and Brunch was held Sunday, December 16, at Qwest Field. J.J. Clark of Eastlake High School and Allen Trillana of Kent-Meridian were honored with the top two awards, each receiving a $2000 scholarships from the Seattle Chapter. Read Story.

Two Local Coaches Honored with 2007 Tony Gasparovich Award

Terry Ennis and Rollie Robins were both honored with the Tony Gasparovich Award at the 2007 Scholar-Atlete Awards on December 16. This award is presented by the Seattle-King County Chapter to football supporters who exhibit love and dedication of the game through their principles and leadership with those they work with.
